I tried all of this stuff myself but in the end I still did not have the business I wanted online. One that paid the bills, let me save for my retirement, gave me freedom to be extravagantly generous, and transform the lives of people around the world.
Talk about frustrated and disappointed …was my dream, my vision never going to become a reality?
Was I doomed to spin my wheels forever, always hoping that the next try would do it?
Always needing to explain to my spouse why this really is a viable career path.
I felt stuck but I knew I had to make this online thing work. After all, other people are getting results and I'm no dumber than most of them... and to top it off, I was convinced that God had a higher purpose in mind for my life and that it was He who had guided me into this opportunity in the first place.
There I was, feeling hopeless, ineffective, and inadequate… stressed out, stretched out both financially and personally... vacillating between wanting to quit and not daring to now that I was so invested into it.
For the first time in my life I had lost all my confidence and even battled depression. Fear and frustration were my constant companions and I was getting desperate… there had to be a reason, there had to be a solution. I just knew it.
So, I began to search... to read everything I could... to seek out the path to making it work correctly. Not a hodge-podge of different solutions all duct-taped together… not a try-it-and-see approach. Not operations done in a wing-and-a-prayer kind of way, but a system… built intentionally, in order, from the bottom up like every good construction project. A system which follows proven, time-tested methods.
That was it!
The lights came on for me! I could see a clear path before me now.
The real problem was the lack of a structured, systematic, strategic plan. Consequently I experienced consistent under performance, unrepeatable, unreliable, unpredictable results, low revenue, low profits, negative ROI, low impact, and non-scalability. And this lead to stress, frustration, frequent strategy changes, desire to quit, feelings of hopelessness and inadequacy, loss of confidence, and fear.
Once I realized what the real problem was it was time to find the solution to fix it.
I realized my clients (and even myself) we're often putting the cart before the horse by doing certain business activities out of order and even skipping essential elements all together. I searched frantically trying to locate the answers all spelled out in one place. I scratched my head and went back to the drawing board – well, computer – and started researching all the necessary steps and stages and resources… and the right order to sort them into.
I worked to organize and distill down all that I had discovered into a set of reliable Frameworks and Checklists. And then I tried them out… I tested them… I applied what I’d learned. I consulted my mentors and refined what I had created even more… all in the pursuit of a clear simple system which would consistently produce both business success and a broad far-reaching impact. I’d finally found what works!
Take the case of – we'll call him Sam – Sam was a Christian life-coach. After three or four years into his coaching profession he came to me struggling, trying to keep his head above water.
But it didn't make sense… he had plenty of clients! In fact, so many that his wife and kids were complaining of him never being around, always working, even though he worked from home. But there he was, stuck, just like I had been… feeling all those same anguishing frustrations and not knowing what to do to change his outlook.
